Stress
Do you feel like your body is constantly on high alert? Can't seem to relax? Stress is something the nervous system responds to every day. People who feel that stress is affecting how they feel and function visit us with the goal of achieving a better balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.
The bigger picture
How we think about it
The nervous system is responsible for detecting stress and coordinating the body's response. When it senses a threat or a stressful situation, it mainly activates the sympathetic system, increasing heart rate, breathing, muscle tension, and alertness. Once the stress decreases, the parasympathetic system helps the body return to calm, promoting rest, digestion, and recovery.
Here we evaluate how the balance between both is and how we can help you.
You may have noticed that:
You find it hard to relax even when you have time to rest.
You often feel tension in your neck, shoulders, or jaw.
Your sleep doesn't feel refreshing.
You have trouble concentrating or staying focused.
You feel like your body is constantly on overdrive.
Small situations seem to trigger a bigger reaction than you expected.
These experiences may be related to the way your body and your nervous system respond to the demands of everyday life.
