Back Pain
Back discomfort can affect daily life in many ways. Our approach looks beyond the location of discomfort to understand how your spine, movement, and nervous system work together.
The bigger picture
How we think about it
Your back is designed to move, and the spine doesn’t act on its own. The spine is more than just a structure. It protects the spinal cord and is constantly communicating with the brain through movement and sensory information. 90% of the information that reaches the brain comes from the spine. If it’s not working at its best, what information do you think is actually getting through? Its movement and position are constantly connected with information from muscles, joints, feet, eyes, and other sensory systems. The brain uses this information to coordinate movement and adapt to different situations.
Maybe:
You feel frequent pain or tension.
You spend a lot of time sitting.
You find it hard to get comfortable.
Some activities increase your discomfort.
You feel stiff when you get up.
You’ve tried different things but are still trying to understand what might be contributing.
